Remember many moons ago when I found an ORANGE iron (for my NEO-Never Enough Orange-Sewing Studio)?!?! I am continuously in love my orange-y goodness. She's so hot and steamy. Seriously, though, it's been 4 years and she is still steaming up a storm. I don't think I've ever owned an iron this long. I don't believe my mom ever did, either, come to think of it. Maybe I'm just really hard on irons, but my Reliable is just that, reliable! ;)
Sadly, they don't have any Velocitys in stock right now, but my Reliable lady, Kimberly, said they have one of these two beauties for a giveaway!! I am in love with the Maven's ($199 MSRP) cork handle and cloth cord!! Such a sleek thing, isn't she?
The other option is this bad boy. The Senza ($299 MRSP). Sounds sultry. What do you think. Can you handle this much iron?
They both come with a water tank (I know! So fancy!) with an option for continuous steam! I don't know, I'd probably have to actually read the user's manual to learn all the fanciness capacity. Are you getting as excited about an iron as I am?

We've had our iron for (at least) ten years, and it acts its age. I have a love-hate relationship with ironing, as it's necessary for week-to-week activities, but it's a real challenge to use. We always end up scorching the ironing board, or steaming an innocent bystander, or burning ourselves- all while treating the iron nicely, and making sure there's enough water. It drives us nuts.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE to iron! Before kids I ironed EVERYthing (even my sheets and sometimes my hair). Now I only iron craft projects or nothing. If my iron had eyeballs I'd be embarrassed to make eye contact. I've neglected it so badly. The poor thing has been bumped and dropped too many times to count. And with a broken handle and cracked body it still heats up to whatever (if any) tasks I put in front of it. I love ironing. I asked for an iron when I went to college and my mother was so happy. I find it relaxing and soothing. I have been known to iron sheets and towels. Also... as a frequenter to snowsports I have an iron to apply wax on those. I have found it funny that my snowboard and ski iron cost more then 4 of my regular irons. Oh. I also enjoy ironing things like cotton tshirts and my sheets (which probably sounds weird, and there are certainly weeks I don't have that time!) So anyway, this is a pitiful thing to admit but the iron I use cost me $10 as a newlywed 13 years ago. It's the most basic and boring iron around I'm sure, but it just doesn't die and it gets really hot, so I've never upgraded.

ReplyDeleteI love ironing as long as I get a nice firm crease, otherwise, not so fun; my current iron is missing its button but still works o.k., and my husband just installed a great over the door ironing board to accommodate for our lack of space--now to cover it with more padding and a better cover!

ReplyDeleteI love ironing and I love how ironed clothes look. I am really busy right now mothering six small children, so I iron less than I'd like. My ironing board is semi-permanently up in my dining room as a testament to my desire to use it more often. I am looking forward to my oldest daughter-age 6- learning to iron in a few years so maybe she can help me out!

It's a LOVE - HATE thing. Oddly enough I love to iron, especially pressing as I go when I sew, but even just ironing my husband's shirt gives me a little zen. Unfortunately the miser in me never lets me spend much on an iron and each and everyone of my assortment of cheap irons drives me nuts in one way or another!!

ReplyDeleteMy husband bought the iron I currently use. It it tall and shiny with a non-stick heating element but the steam is terrible and it doesn't get hot enough. But I did drop it from the board onto my concrete floor and it still works so I suppose that's a win for me? The cork one looks amazing though! jessicaoliveto@gmail.com

I have had the same iron since college (13+ years). It used to have duct tape on it, but that kept coming off, so now it's super-glued. It still works for all my sewing and ironing needs! I just don't know what I'd do with a new fancy iron! mandiprout80 @ gmail {dot} com

I have a nonexistent relationship with irons (read: I don't have one) my brother was the main user of our iron when he moved out a few months ago, and took it with him. I actually like ironing! just don't like my iron and I use it so much when making quilts. It'd be nice to have one of these fancy ones!

ReplyDeleteI have more than one relationship with ironing, just as I have more than one iron! I have 3 of them in my sewing room for different purposes and just one really old one in the laundry room where I press the shirts, pants, dresses that need to be de-wrinkled. That's the job I hate the most, but if I had a decent iron like this, it wouldn't be so bad at all...maybe even fun! Let's whoop it up! :)
