This week couldn't have worked out any better for Sew All 26 "B" week. Anneliese of Aesthetic nest asked me if I would join her new Bateau Neck Pattern tour, and it just happened to fall into B week! It's always so fun to see the different versions people come up with. Take a look at her blog to see what fellow bloggers have done with it.
I started making it as a dress (it comes with the option for a dress, tunic, and different sleeve lengths!) but I asked Divine if she would wear a dress to school. She told me she probably wouldn't, so we made it into a shirt.
The bow necklace was really easy to throw together.
The faux leather trim comes with the grommets already in it (from Joann's).
➊ Fold and sew each side under. Using a zipper foot works the best so the grommet doesn't have to go under the foot. It's a bit tricky to sew such a small piece, but you can also just stitch it by hand.
➋ Pinch middle together and insert a knotted piece of doubled thread through the back.
➌ Wrap the thread around until desired thickness is achieved. Secure with a knot and thread the tail through the previous stitches and cut. Thread a necklace chain through the grommets, or link a larger ring around each grommet and add to a chain in the center.
I stitched the seams with my serger and used a double needle to hem the bottom and sleeves as well as to secure the neck facing about an inch and a half away from the opening.
I took the same faux leather trim and add a star between two of the grommets for the sleeve to give it a bit of an edge.I must like the black and white stripes. See my little photo bomber.
This is a perfect pattern for no-fuss, no-closure type of sewing for your little ones (with enough options to keep it interesting).
Divine loves her new shirt, almost as much as I do.
And Anneliese has offered to give away a copy of her new pattern to one of you! Just leave a comment and your email address if it isn't attached to your profile. I'll pick a winner by the end of the week! Or go grab yours right this second here. How is your Sew All 26 sewing coming? I'll open up another linking party up later this week because I have more B goodness on the way!
