Have you ever had a conversation with someone you thought you knew really well, and then they say something and you wonder, huh?!?
Ryan casually said to me this weekend, do you remember when I picked Coldplay Sugar Ray up from the airport?
Um. No? What? Was this when we were married?
No, it wasn't, but isn't this the type of information a girl should know before she commits her life to marriage?
Ah, well. We like to surprise each other every so often. Like when I told him I used to be a cheerleader.
Haha. No, that's not true, but I tried to convince him that I really was.
So, this was the B dress for Clover's B week. Full of blue, beads and an antique, glass buckle that I knew would be perfect as soon as the perfect project came along. The dress design is my own, which is always so much more time consuming than using a pattern, but usually worth it. I used the very technical method of tracing the top portion of Clover's jammies and adding the ruched panel.
The zipper is a jeans zipper that happened to coordinate with my color scheme. Love it when that happens.
I made it out of a baby wale corduroy that has a bit of a stretch to it. Her headband was not an official part of the ensemble. That was just the huge amount I cut off the hem. Thought she was taller than she is, I guess.
And, what do you know, it's already C week. Of course she'll be wearing her Clover shirt, but I've also got something in mind for more C goodness.
2 down, 24 to go!
This dress is GORGEOUS! How did you make the ruched panel without adding too much bulk? I'm always amazed by your creativity - what a wonderful physical manifestation of your love for your children! I'm hoping I can do half as much for my (current) one baby girl... :)
ReplyDeleteNew favorite dress!!!!!!! I love the ruched panel! :) I would totally buy this pattern if you happened to want to turn it into a pattern. That corduroy is delicious. Love the pictures too!
ReplyDeleteWould you please make me this same dress for me in my size? :-) I love it!
ReplyDeleteOops! I was still signed into Dave's account! Although Dave would think the dress is cute, he would most likely not want to wear it, but I sure would! Love, Sara ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the dress! Especially the girl in the dress in the sweet potato vine.
ReplyDeleteWhy did Ryan pick up COLDPLAY at the airport. Does Ben know this?

ReplyDeleteWow, Katy, this dress is amazing. Absolutely gorgeous. B is for beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBecause I do not and will likely never sew, and since you are through having girls, I think all their hand-me-downs should come to ... me. :)
ReplyDeleteI lone the dress. Nice simple shape with beautiful details.
ReplyDeleteIt was the band Sugar Ray. This is why you must never blindly trust what you read.
ReplyDeleteMy very good friend was the opener to a concert they performed at Sundance Film Festival.
Now you ALL know.
My newest brush with fame is everynight I go to bed with the star of No Big Dill.

ReplyDeleteI know you sew amazing clothes all the time, but honestly, this may very well be my most favorite. I love how simple it is in color with just enough design to keep it interesing. The blue color is fabulous (at least it is on my computer screen) and the buckle is just perfect. Yet another winner. And I agree with the commenter who asked for your hand-me-downs. I'm imagining that you have a line up of lucky little cousins waiting in the wings.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog from MyBeauBaby. I love it! This little dress is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I forget about the nap half the time. Such a bummer when it happens!
