I opened up the Zulily email this morning and saw this:
and thought it looked an awful lot like this:
Great minds think alike ;)
Sadly Drummer has outgrown his little cowboy romper.
It was so much work, though, I think I'll just buy the one in blue.
Meanwhile, I've been doing a whole lot of girl sewing for my sister's girls, I'm hoping she'll send a picture when I finally get them off to her. Speaking of sewing, do you ever have fabric cravings? Like when I'm pregnant and want an Arby's roast beef sandwich, except I'm not and I don't. I'm craving linen right now. And bias tape. What are you sewing and craving lately?
Knits! Sadly, the local selection here is bunk. I could go down to the garment district, but it's hot, and the city right now? No. Know of any good websites for printed knits that are inexpensive but not cheap?
ReplyDeleteI haven't been so much into sewing right now, but I've been making jewelry like a mad woman. I just want beads, beads and more beads!
ReplyDeleteI've been sewing garlands and mobiles for my shop! I got a bunch of new felt in in all sorts of new colors and shapes and am so excited to make my new garlands for my shop! www.livedelighfully.etsy.com
ReplyDeleteCraving? I've been craving time, time and more time to just paint and sew my little heart out. I've been working on new paintings and my sewing things recently and never seem to have time to finish any of it with all the "real job" stuff I have to do as well as wrangling to baby boys. :)
Soft, absorbent fabrics in cute prints.
ReplyDeleteWhat am I sewing? Momma cloth....
cotton gauze. The good kind. It's 100 degrees outside and our local stores have bolts and bolts of flannel, but no gauze? love that romper-- you should design for zulilly!
ReplyDeleteLove your analogy. I'm craving voile and lawn.
ReplyDeleteAfter a spring of discovering how much I love sewing and making a million skirts and dresses for my girls, I was hit with 6 weeks of ridiculous morning sickness. So I sewed nothing. And then I knew time was running out to sew the skirts I planned for my youngest child's birthday party and that seemed to kick me back into the sewing mood. We had our 2 weeks of hot weather and now it's cloudy again, so my head thinks it's fall. So I'm craving fall colours and weights of fabric and I'm craving sewing a wardrobe of cute fall clothing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with mrsm. Where to find nice knits online?? I want to know what you do when you are in a sewing slump. I have a dedicated sewing room and an Ikea Expedit shelf (the big one!) full of fabric, but sometimes I just don't know what to sew. Where do you go for inspiration?
ReplyDeleteSilk! (That I can afford!)
ReplyDeletecraving me some Voile for a pretty little summer dress with a nice lining underneanth. Also some nice sateen for some pencil skirts. Bright kelly green a bright yellow and a dark pink. now i need shoes to go with all of them.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting you craved beef because as I recall you were slightly anemic, right? I was on a loooong linen kick a few months back. Then I got burnt out on it because I used it on everything. It can still appreciate its beauty though!
ReplyDeleteMy fingers always crave linen! The feel of it, the way it works up. There is nothing like linen. Unfortunately there is nothing of quality available locally and I am so busy with seersucker!
ReplyDeletemy, my, that DOES look a lot like Drummer's romper.
ReplyDeleteoooo...my blogging friend Im craving linen too...I cant stop buying it, even though it's $24.00 a meter here..Ive have made so many linen skirts in every colour for my 4 girls, I'm just waiting for them to shout out a "enough with the skirts Mum".....I am in love with extra large ric rak too...Ive been bordering the skirt hem's with it..
ReplyDeleteI'm craving the perfect shirt for myself. I cannot decide on a fabric from my stash or a style of shirt. So....wheels are still turning, brainstorming, and am still working through it in my head. I used bias tape the other day after not using it for a while and it certainly made me crave to use it more. I forget how fun it is. It's easy, and makes projects look that much smarter.
ReplyDeleteI'm craving wool fabrics right now. I know, 100+ degrees outside and I'm wanting wool. Eh! No one ever said I was conventional.
ReplyDeleteFood-wise, that Arby's sounds good. As does a hot dog with the cheese bits in it. Man, what is it about summer that makes me want those things?
I am learning to sew right now and I made my first quilt. I sent it out to be quilted and just got it back. It is an Americana Quilt and I will need to take pictures and share when it is all done. I wish I would have taken pictures of the process. I am getting ready to cut the binding and sew it on. I am going to cut on the bias? I think it is bias anyway. So I am craving to finish this project and use it in a family photo session for labor day. We shall see. Next on my list. Sewing clothes.
ReplyDeleteKnits! I've been wanting to make cute shirts, dresses and skirts. I got a pretty good selection of solid colors in a trade with a fellow crafter but I'd love to have some in fun prints! It's just so hard to find them locally and when I buy online I'm never quite sure what I'm actually getting in terms of weight/drape, etc.
ReplyDeleteAlways linen.
ReplyDeleteI crave fabric. Period. all the time, every kind...and usually more so when I have no money to spend on fabric...

ReplyDeleteSmocking! Smocking! Smocking! I recenly added smocking to my stitching repetoire and so far have made a smocked dress and top/pants outfit for my little girl. Next planned, a summer dress with a smocked cherry!
ReplyDeletePaisley, or dots, or stripes. My favorites. Always crave them.
ReplyDeleteI always crave fabric ;). Right now I am loving brights for the summer!
ReplyDeleteI crave cotton drop cloth stuff. There is an apron I want to make... and actually need with all the cooking I do, and the drop cloth is the best option. And 3/4" cotton twill tape... it just has sew many uses....
ReplyDeleteBut I have a pile of mending and it is time to plan what to make to fill in the blanks for school clothes
I'm just craving blues right now. Usually I'm all about the oranges but maybe I've got oceans on my mind or something.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else has the same craving as I. KNITS! I have so many knit projects I want to do. The selection here stinks.

ReplyDeleteI am with the croud I guess. I am craving knits and like to sew 'special' t-shirts for my kids. My serger was out of commission for a couple of months and I now feel the need to make up for lost time! :D
ReplyDeleteFinally joined Zulily after this post and remarkably spent some moola in the same go. $14.99 for a bold black-and-white one-piece! I should've asked for your personal 'info' or whatever so you could get credit for referring me!
