I saw my baby today

It's getting ridiculous, isn't it.  Went in to have this baby of mine checked.  Looks like all is well.  My mom told my dad I went in to have my fluids checked.  He said it sounds like I'm a car.  Heartbeat fine.  Amniotic fluid fine.  Baby bump?  Big.  Ultrasound girl estimates 9lb 12oz.  I told her I hoped she was wrong.  I also told her we weren't finding out what this baby was, so she obliged and didn't say a word about it.  We chatted, told her I had 5 girls already and she was a bit taken aback.  I got cleaned up and began to leave and poked my head back in and asked if she took a peek.  Of course, she said and laughed.

Of course.

  2. Love that you haven't found out to the bitter end. I did the same with all five of mine! The best surprise, right?

  3. I die! I have been checking back every day to see if your little one has made their grand entrance, I can't even imagine how you are feeling! I'm sending good vibes and labor wishes your way in the hopes that your sweet baby appears soon for you before they are a 10 lb sumo baby!

  4. The suspense is killing me!!!
I'm a midwife in Australia, sending "go into labour vibes" across the ocean. Good luck.

  5. Ah! This posting just about killed me! :) Can't wait for baby to arrive and to see the newest addition to the clan.

  7. Ahh this suspense couldn't be written any better. :)

  8. The baby will come when she is good and ready. A well cooked baby is a good thing! I feel for you though. My third was very late and eventually I felt like I would just stay pregnant! Best wishes!

  11. Do you think you could ask Ultra Sound Girl to put up the image on Face Book? The suspense is killing me! Our last two grandchildren were an 11 pound girl (now the daintiest little toddler) and a 3 pound boy (2 months early), now a hale and hearty toddler. Best of luck.

  12. I think it is so sweet that you keep us posted wiht daily updates:) Being the Momma of 5 boys---I am just dying to find out what happens on #6:) So fun!! The baby (he or she) looks adorable! My 4th was 9lbs 14oz --a week early!! I sincerly hope that tech is wrong...babies that big are not very fun to deliver BUT I must add babies that chubby at birth are very cute and cuddly!! Good luck and love from TN:)

  13. Can't wait, can't wait, but must! The baby looks way content all snuggled in there.

  14. Let's hope that "give or take a pound" rule applies here :) Simon (my 3rd) was a nine-pounder but I didn't know the difference - they all feel the same coming out, haha.

I'm mostly a lurker on your blog but I'm loving this baby wait ... this is the most exciting part and I'm so happy you're letting him/her come on his/her own timing :)

  15. oh and we never find out baby's gender either. have you kept it a surprise all six times?

  16. Jen-all my girls were between 6-8 lbs

SewSara-we didn't find out with any of them and I thought they were all boys!

  18. Beautiful baby. I love that the ultrasound tech peeked. :)

My birthday is tomorrow and I must say it's a GREAT day to be born. ;) Here's hoping for a 9/9 baby!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Of course...a baby born on 9/10/11 would be pretty sweet as well!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh good a beautiful chunky baby maybe? I had chunky babes (9lb 4oz, 9lb, then 10lb 5oz).

    ReplyDelete
  21. Praying for you, and for a very happy birthday....whenever it shall be! :-) Best wishes. I enjoy your blog very much and have had fun the past few weeks checking daily to see......

  22. Oh, my! I hope you're not going too crazy. I feel for you, my little Olivia was induced 11 days overdue after being estimated at 'around nine pounds' a few days earlier, and she was 9lb 5oz... however, she was out in three pushes, quite unlike her much smaller sister! Guess she was just much more ready to come out :) (Now she's a week shy of nine months and she's been walking for a few weeks now... I blame the overbaking. lol!)

  23. Moms are uber strong - you can do it, all 9lbs 12oz of him/her! Praying, praying, praying for you....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh, Katy! Just beautiful! But I CANNOT BELIVE YOU HAVE NOT HAD THAT BABY YET! Surely tomorrow! I'll keep checking in!

    ReplyDelete
  25. You totally freaked me out. :) I saw the title in my google reader and sped over.

It is quite amazing that you have had 5 girls and don't want to know. You have patience, and self control beyond most people - like me. I admire you so much.

I think those estimates are always off too. My 2nd baby was estimated at 8 lbs. at 37 weeks (I think) and he came out at 6 lbs. 11 oz., 2 weeks later. Meh.

  26. oh my ...those lips....soon you'll be smooching on those sweet kissable baby lips xxx

    ReplyDelete
  27. Best of luck! I, too, have delivered overdue each baby (13,9,5, and 7 days respectively) all of which came happily on their own. My midwife told me she doesn't like to have the sonogram techs estimate birth weight because it can be off up to 2 pounds either way. Here's hoping you don't make double digits! Have been really enjoying your blog.

  28. Acupressure? Worked for my first anyway! We used the pressure points recommended for women already in labour. We had the baby within 11 hours!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ultrasound readings up to 5% inaccurate, btw.

  30. Black and Blue cohosh worked for me every time. And the raspberry leaf tea, too! And licorice root (which is just plain yummy!) Can. Not. Wait. ANYMORE! Tired of clicking over here 5 times a day! : )Wishing your lovely family a healthy, fully ripened baby!

  35. It is so hard to be patient at this point, but how quickly you forget when you are holding your tiny baby in your arms!
I am sure that everyone in your household is anxious and excited.
I can't wait to hear how everything goes!
Heres to a quick, safe and happy delivery! Will be thinking of you and yours katy! Cannot wait to hear!

  36. Ohhh, I can't imagine how you feel! Sending you all my best, praying for an awesome delivery, may baby dill come happy, chubby, healthy, and SOON! =)

    Hugs from Brazil!

  37. I'm on pins and needles ;) waiting to hear when this baby will make its way into the world. As an encouragement for you, my sister had her son estimated to be 10 lbs via ultrasound...he was only 7 lbs and change.

Praying for a safe delivery for you.

  38. Hope all goes well and this baby comes soon!! I had four children, one boy who weighed 10 lbs 11 oz, then three girls all weighing in over 9 lbs. Robust children!! Still are, two of my girls have had babies one just 8 lbs, and the other, 6 lbs, 11 oz...lucky her.
    Two beautiful Granddaughters!!

  39. I'm soooooo excited for you!!!! Look at that sweetie - are your girls bugging you daily? Are they so excited they can hardly stand it? I had one that did NOT want a(nother) little sibling, but they're buddies now (most of the time, anyway) :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ahhhh! You are absolutely adorable & I can imagine the anticipation! I was 6 days overdue with my baby girl... I can't imagine not knowing though! I'm sure I would have taken a peek when she did (lol)... They also told me mine was going to be BIG, but she was only 6lbs 15oz. Hopefully she was wrong about your little one's size, but if not just remember (as I'm sure you already do) that you are capable & your body was designed to do this! {<my own personal labor/delivery mantra ;) }. Good Luck & Labor vibes headed your way!

  41. seems like you may be the only patient one here. cause....i feel like a stalker. do you have a plan in place for notifying us???? hope so. hehe :>)

  43. Every morning and night I jump onto this blog and find out where you're at. I went to 41.5 wks with my 1st and my dr "scraped" around inside -- 24 hrs later my water broke and 15 hours after that I had my lttle man. Wonderful labor and delivery. Good luck :) I don't know how you do it -- wish i could,..

  44. Both you and a dear friend of mine are due any minute...and the suspense is almost too much. Wishing you as much rest as possible, and the strength to push out a bowling ball! :) My last little one was over 8 lbs...I can't imagine 9.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Best of luck to you! I have never gone past 38 weeks so I can't imagine being past due. (38 weeks always feels like a lifetime in the moment) With my first they told me he was likely around 9 pounds according to an ultrasound and then low and behold out came a 6 pound 13 ounce little boy, and a lot of water... sometimes fluid messes with the ultrasound I think. Best of luck either way! I hope you are holding your new little bundle soon!

  46. I think of you everyday. and I mean everyday. I get on the computer very rarely these days but when I do I check to see if there is a picture of your new one:) I can't wait... and I am sure you guys can't either:) I hope for you too that 9 lb 12 oz is not right too!!! whoa baby. I had a 9 pounder and let me just say all of those chubby rolls on her were so awesome. She didn't stay big though... she is so petite now:) best of luck. I am praying for you!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh Katy! I too hope it won't be over 9 pounds. Here's to hoping this baby makes it's appearance this weekend. It looks way to content inside!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Katy! Loved this post. You are so close to the end...sending happy thoughts and prayers of encouragement your way, although you're sounding like you're doing wonderfully! Blessings to you and your family...

  49. I'm ready! Sounds like you are too! Let's see this baby on Earth! Come on baby!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Every time I check my google Reader these days, I have to check your posts first!! haha! Just curious like the entire rest of the world :) Come on lil' baby!!

  51. So exciting! God bless your wonderful family, Katy. Loved your parenting post below too. I have 6 girls and one boy...ALL very different and special in their own way.

  52. Your patience is inspiring! My grandma always says "Baby comes when baby's ready" and your sweet little one REALLY want to be ready. Waiting with great anticipation for the arrival of your newest precious gift. And I just can't wait to hear the name you and Ryan pick!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Crazy, I hope for your sake he or she isn't a 9 pounder. But your kiddo already looks just precious! Good luck!

  54. The suspense is killing me. Though my anticipation is only a small fraction of yours. Your blog is a breath of fresh air. I enjoy it so much. Now, come on, Baby Dill!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Can't wait to find out who is joining your family! Hope he/she is smaller than predicted. I was told my daughter was going to be big- and not just once, but at all six ultrasounds I had during the second half of my pregnancy. Each time, they said she was very big. She was a good pound less than they predicted. A perfect 7 lbs 13 oz. Hoping the same for you! :)

  56. Oooh 9/10/11 would be SO clever and cool!
Everyday I check my google reader looking for a post from you. SO much so that even my husband, Steve, asks if you've posted yet. We're eager to hear how you're doing!!

  57. I am hoping you are not typing because your arms are busy holding a brand new special someone.

So excited to hear the news.

Can we all just agree that this one WILL BE a BIG DILL??

  60. So I have pretty much convinced myself that you have met your little one :). Ohhhh I hope your delivery went smoothly, and you are home safe and sound with your new little bundle.
