If I could just remember how much fun I have at these; gathering with women who share enjoyment of handiwork, I might have them every week ;)
This time was no different. I loved going around seeing what everyone was working on. Some had brought projects that had been neglected and gathering dust. [That's another tip that Unclutter Your Life offers, either set aside the time to complete your projects, hire someone to complete them, or just get rid of them without the guilt, knowing you'd rather spend your time doing something else.] Others brought projects they just recently came up with for this very night.A door prize was supplied by me: Retro-green glass-head pins, the Oliver + S Sunday Brunch Jacket pattern [sadly out of print :( ], and some freeze dried peaches [one of my favorites, it's like eating candy!]...
...of course hugged in orange ;)
And one of my favorite beverages: Melonwater....get it? Hehe. I like it much better than lemon water or cucumber water. I do have to apologize to some who were expecting my Rosemary Peach Lemonade. Next time?A spread of cheese, of course, on fruit and rosemary crackers [see, I slipped rosemary in there!]
Casey got her husband's scout patch sewing out of the way before she got to move on to making fabric flowers.
These three, I'm 99% convinced, wore orange in honor of my favorite color. And I promise I didn't peek when choosing the door prize winner...
I got to practice my baby holding skills. There were two sweet baby girls who came to their first Sewing Soiree last year in utero. Their mamas did a nice job and they're going to be fantastic seamstresses, I can tell already.I even broke out the Button soap my dad sent me a while ago, for the occasion. He found them here. He's a thoughtful dad like that who appreciates fun mail, therefore he sends it.
Don't let the light fool you. We [mostly] worked [plus chatted and ate] until the dark hours of the night.
I love people who have a nice heart-y laugh. Sharline, you and your frogs are always welcome :). Oh, and in case you were wondering, I freed the tail-less lizard you found lurking in the kitchen. I'm brave like that.
My make-shift fire...turned art.
And look at Erin and I! Due within a week of each other, she with a girl, me with a....?And, remember the door prize?
It must pay to wear orange!
I love walking people out, sending them off with sweet dreams of sewing.
Until next time!
What a really fun event. I wish I had that number of people around me who want to sew! Thank you for all the cool beverage ideas too.

What a fun thing to do!!!!! I wish I knew more ladies who like to sew and would do this! My great aunt used to tell me that she and her friends would get together and sew. I long for those days....

ReplyDeleteWho would look at you and think you've already popped out five kids, and now your sixth is on the way?!?!?
ReplyDeleteI just found out I'm pregnant with my fourth, and I knew it because my middle bloated quickly. Apparently, my body's done this pregnancy thing before, so it knows how to look already. Much to my chagrin. ;) As long as the baby is healthy, I can take it.
I do not know how to sew much, but you daily inspire me to learn. I am a constant blog lurker.
I wish I could come to one of those soirees! How much funnn.
