Do you know Kathleen over at Grosgrain? She's pretty much like the Oprah of sewing blogs. She's holding a series of Free Patterns all month long and asked me to come over and play! I know I've been inspired by all the high-profile seamstress bloggers she's had over, and feel so flattered to be included.
I'm sharing a tutorial that I get the most requests for...I know, finally. See my little photo link on the sidebar of a "straight up record"? I made that a year ago in champagne and yellow: The Ruffled Clover Dress. Little Cloves has already outgrown it and I thought I would make another and a tutorial along with it for you! This year it's navy and yellow. And backwards ;)
I tell you.
This little monkey gets into a whole lot of trouble. And she's bossy [have I said that enough?]
But it sure is lucky she's got that spacey toothed grin and those baby blues, not to mention the cheeks and the curls. [We like to have her for dessert around here.]
Or she might be shipped off to the nearest relative.
She thought she'd try out the miniature chair.
The stare.
Don't mind her post nap hair.
Matching diaper cover in stretch velvet.
I tell you.
And off go the ruffles.
And off you go to get the tutorial.
Thanks, Kathleen for the play date.
The dress is beautiful, of course, but goodness--that sweet little muffin on the mini chair! She is so ridiculously adorable and reminds me so much of my youngest with the whole chair escapade.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that stretch velvet diaper cover! Putting this on my sewing to do list!
ReplyDeleteOh that Clover! She is the cutest. What a beauty in those ruffles!
ReplyDeleteall i needed to see was the "Matching diaper cover in stretch velvet." photo & i was hooked ~ the best photo for an adorable outfit :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your tutorial! I love this dress! And the scrumptious model! ;)

gorgeous! I think this will be a 1st birthday outfit for my girl !! thanks so much for the inspiration, Now to get sewing. So happy I bought a ruffler foot with my last bit of fun money!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this model and the dress is perfect for her. How clever to turn it around and show off the buttons!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! :) baci dalla Polonia :)
ReplyDeleteThat navy and yellow combo is striking together! I am off to read your tutorial now. You are sew talented.
ReplyDeleteI know the dress is really beautiful, but I just kept looking at that mini chair. I think that would have endless uses, I love things in minature- my freind fred (?) told me its because I'm not so minature, I just like imagining the fairies using them.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so cute, but oh. my. word- your daughter is ADORABLE! Your description of her reminds me of my two year old- a stinker but such a cutie! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with children born the summer of 2008? My little one is the same way...sassy, bossy, and adorable. She really tries to rule the roost. Clover's curls are gorgeous, and as always the dress is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe diaper cover rocks!
ReplyDeleteYou sew this amazing dress, work out the tutorial, and we all love the diaper cover!
Where do you get such incredible adornments? The trim and buttons are cool. Thanks! And I can't wait to try this. Though I am a bit intimidated.
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures of Clover and the dress, of course! Did you treat the ruffles with anything to prevent fraying?
ReplyDeleteTeri--I KNOW! I was all stressed trying to get the dressed finished up and as an afterthought I decided to do the diaper cover because I hate getting that glimpse of diaper, whipped it up in 5 minutes. Next time I'll just stick to the diaper cover.
ReplyDeleteGeorgine--I kind of randomly collect things as I come across them, but M&J Trims has an amazing collection of buttons-not the cheapest, but very cool. The trim I got on ebay many years ago.
Emily--the ruffles are folded in half, and yes, you should zig zag or serge the edges that come together. Hooray for no fraying!! :)
I've been hoping you'd do a tutorial for this since I saw the pic in your sidebar!! Clover is adorable--just too cute! Thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all the ruffles! And that chair! And that little girl!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to make this for my 3 nieces (soon to be 4 by August!). Do you think the O Pop skirt from the Project Run and Play will be getting a tutorial posted soon?! That is another I would love to make for the froofroo girlies.
ReplyDeleteJen
Oh how I wish I could snag her as our model! I am not as skilled as you but I did do a fun craft project that you might like with some great straw bags from Target that were only 2.50.
ReplyDeleteOh the joy in her face! She is so sweet, and you are waaaaaaaaay too modest! You are totally in their league, don't kid yourself!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is beautiful!
