Project Run and Play Recap

Tomorrow will be bittersweet.

It will be the final round of Project Run and Play that has so entirely consumed my life these past 6 weeks.  I will be glad not to have the pressure of coming up with something unique each week, and Ryan and the baby dills will appreciate having their wife/mom back without pins in her mouth and fabric scraps stuck all over her [although I make no promises!]

But I will miss the push and challenge to grow and reach beyond that of which I thought I was capable.  Yesterday, as I was showing Ryan my design, he said, "You know, you're a really good designer.  You just made all of this up?"  I smiled, pleased to hear his kind words.

My girls will miss the weekly rotation of someone getting a new outfit.  Every time I began on an outfit they would ask if it was for them and if it wasn't, if I could make one just like it for them.  My sewing queue is backlogged ;)

But hopefully my recurring headache will subside, my complexion will clear up, and I will fall asleep instead of laying awake about how I was going to construct something or what type of details I want to include.

I felt so honored to be included with the amazing women who have been creating right alongside with me.  In fact we joked about how much fun we would have if we were actually physically together, in a workroom, working together each week!  Party, I tell ya.  In fact I've invited 3 of them to "Once Upon a Thread" to stretch out our interaction with one another ;).

Tomorrow's submission is intended to represent each of us and our aesthetic as designers.  I had some doubts as I was midway through my project [you know how you picture something in your head and you just hope it comes to fruition?]  A mid-project crisis, so to speak.  Well, it has finally come together and it is me: the colors, the textures, the shapes, the combination and cut.  So, tomorrow, it feels like it is me up for judging [I know I need to separate myself from my designs, but....it's hard!]

Thank you for coming back each week to see and vote on the submissions, thanks to Micalah who has trudged through the muck and difficulty of a first time event with grace, and to the judges with whom I don't have any desire to exchange shoes [not that I don't like their shoes, mind you]!  Please include a few minutes for Project Run and Play in your plans this weekend to see the grand finale of Ashley, Kelly and myself!

  12. Katy, it has been a joy to see and vote on the designs you have created. Your husband is correct, maybe in your "spare time" you could be a designer and put out a line of clothing! I know I would purchase them.
    Warmly,
    Tracey
