Whew! This weekend whisked me away and I'm still trying to get my feet to touch the ground. It included a sleepover with 7 sweet teenage girls, early morning yoga on the beach [with 7 sleepy teenage girls], moldy laundry [thank you love for taking care of that one] and a bit of harp playing. Thus the tardiness of my post today. Please forgive.
I think maybe checkerboards are engraved on my brain. My parents' fault. There has been checkered paintings, checkered rugs, checkered doors, checkered tiles, checkered lamps, checkered chicken coops, and and and. So when I saw this checkered "pleather" I thought I've never done checkered pleather before! Must give this a whirl! So I snatched a yard and immediately went to work on a most genius pattern. It's called, and I love the name as much as the actual project:
It was generated by one of the most delightful people I've never met:
I told her the pattern was perfect, except it needs to come in sizes for all my girls! A hood would be nice, too, for one girl in particular who thinks yogurt in the hair is a beauty treatment. It is simple and straightforward.
Clover took it for a spin:
Did you catch the smock catching the drip?!?
A couple of happy girls over here, I tell ya.
Danielle is generously offering 3 readers a pattern!!
As September Sewing Celebration is drawing to a close boo-hoo,
a winner will be chosen at the end of the week.
Please just one comment per person.
Thanks, Danielle!
Oh, I would love to have this pattern! My son thinks food tastes better when he has smeared it from ear to ear and head to toe!

this smock pattern is exactly what i am needing this week with a one and two year old who have discovered the delight of fresh juicy sweet oranges, the kind that explode on one's face, trickle down the chin and over little fingers to run down elbows! yum

Wish I could have a made-up smock, but maybe my meager skills could tackle it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a necessity in our lives over here esp. since I dress them and fix their hair before breakfast (why? I ask myself that everyday).
