For Those Who Care

I spent the whole morning outside in the yard.  Trimming bushes.  Why, asked Azure.  It's like a haircut for plants, I said.  Then I imagined they were giant heads with really stiff hair.  That was kind of creepy, so imagined them back into bushes.  Then I hosed off the front walkway.  We may never have to lift a snow shovel here, but things grow.  On the cement.  I got bored and made myself a heart.  Come over and enjoy it with me.  And that brings me to my toes.  It's been well over a year since I've painted them anything other than clear.  How about you, are you a pedicure kind of girl?  I think I'd rather save my pennies and buy some cute shoes to go over them.
Then there was harvesting of my garden.  I should win an award for the spiciest radishes on earth, maybe in the milky way.  I eat one each morning, to...well I'm sure they're killing cancer cells or boosting the glow of my skin or something.  I like to think I'm not just torturing myself.  After radish consumption came my broccoli.  Look at this beauty!!!  My broccoli has also been growing for well over a year.  This day was long awaited.  My first bite of home grown broccoli....
was just that.  One bite.  Shared with 5 other mouths who, upon learning I grew it in my garden, suddenly loved broccoli like it was the new candy.  Perhaps I need a bigger garden.
What was your morning filled with?

  6. I'd prefer a pedicure and pretty shoes, but alas, I have neither right now. I've been thinking for a while that some shoe shopping is in order!

We grew broccoli this year (well, last fall and into this year to be exact). We recently pulled it out to make way for...hopefully...more prolific plants. We enjoyed some broccoli, but I think we waited too long to harvest it and damaged it's productivity. Maybe we'll try it again next year...

  8. the broccoli looks wonderful. I guess I need to start my garden if it means my kids will eat more veggies. Let me know if those radishes do anything extra special for you in the future!

  11. My morning was full of poaching eggs, which is now my son's favorite way to eat them.

I always used to imagine that cutting grass was like giving a giant a haircut. Except that we were ON the giant's head.

    Congrats on the broccoli!!!!!
