The girls didn't consider Japanese desserts to be a treat
Morning pastries in the shape of an elephant
A visit to a Japanese Castle which had "Nightingale Floors"--floors built to have a sing-song chirp as you walk along to alert of intruders.
I loved the Japanese Maples. They're the lace of the tree world.
Did you know chestnuts grew like this?
Pearl made a new friend, Saki. They spoke mostly in English, but Pearl learned a few Japanese phrases to say to her, like, "What kind of bed do you sleep in," and, "What's your favorite food?" We saw her again the next day, and they had more roof perching conversations until we had to bid her good-bye.
We wore them out every single day, so they'd sleep like this
And on to Korea...
So fun Katy! Brendon says he wants to see more photos too! And mom as well.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE SNAPS OF JAPAN. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU (AGAIN) IN KOREA.
ReplyDeleteOH! Korea. Say hello to Korea for me. I mean On yon ha say oh.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind Japan part 4, 5, 6, 7?
ReplyDeleteMy mom flies out for Thailand next week. Seeing these pictures make me want to go now and do a long layover in Japan.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! It sounds like such a fun trip. We can't wait to take Cora to Japan. (We spent a year in Kyoto when we were first married.) What is the youngest age that you think a little one would enjoy it?
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome! I'm completely jealous! Btw, I took on the tulle challenge and posted it on my blog. Thanks again for the sewing inspiration. Next, I'm taking on sewing a sling... wish me luck ;)
ReplyDeleteKaty,
ReplyDeleteWere you just in Kyoto, or did you get up to Tokyo too? I love Japan - that's great that you got to go. As for the 3 girls in front of the sign, it says Matsu Jitsu Seito Iesu Kirisuto Kyokai (literally Latter-day Saints' Jesus Christ Church)
Sorro, I'm impressed you could tell we were in Kyoto. We didn't go up to Tokyo, but we also went to Nagoya.
ReplyDeleteKaty,
ReplyDeleteThe thing that gave it away was the picture of your family at Nijo Castle. I've got a picture with my wife at almost exactly the same place!
