Yesterday, we joined a walk, Great Strides, downtown Jacksonville to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis in the name of my niece, Mary Deane, who was diagnosed with CF just last month. The walk was lovely. The post rain weather was breezy. The view was riverside. And we had a lot of energy needing to get out of these girls. The evening ended with my love's homemade chocolate cupcakes and vanilla bean frosting {the reason I ate two}, with optional sprinkles and, of course, a round of tears {or two} for good measure.
We love you Mary Deane, and are hopeful for some new medication {in phase 3 of testing} that treats the CF, not just the symptoms!
Love the pictures. You all look so cute in your black pants and pink tops. You guys always do the coolest things and eat the yummiest foods. Sorry about the tears.
ReplyDeleteAwesome for you all. Glad the weather cleared for it. No pink for Ryan, eh?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift to Mary Deane. She is so blessed to have family that love her so much. What a great thing for her cousins to do for her. Hugs to all of you and thanks from the bottom of her Jones' grandparents hearts. We actually missed the walk here in Augusta because we were at Karlie's BYU graduation. We will be on the next one though. Hugs, Tina
ReplyDeleteWhat a supportive and loving activity. I'm glad you could walk for sweet MD. Your girls are key-utest! Those cupcakes looked awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh, such a sad ending. I wish I could hug her! Ann said her little family ALL has CF. I think that circle needs to go a bit wider. Thanks for the widening!
ReplyDeleteWe've developed an annual tradition of participating in the local Great Strides walk as well. There is a wonderful family in our ward whose two sons have CF (they also have two daughters who don't have the disease). It's become almost a ward activity because of the overwhelming number of ward members who show up every year. May the Lord bless sweet little Mary Deane and her family in their trials.
ReplyDeleteOh Katy, we are very touched that you and yours would take the time to do this for us. It means a lot, and it's no little thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for thinking about MD. I think you guys are the first on both sides to participate in a walk. I'm impressed.
