...And a giveaway for YOU! I've done these projects over the past few months, with the final one (that cute purse down there at the bottom) being for one of you out there! All those who comment by Friday, noon (EST) will be part of a random drawing performed by one of the lovely lasses I live with.
Clover finally got a stocking, with a charm instead of her name embroidered.
Grandma Mary Dean would be proud. High heel and sparkle!
This was a skirt make-over. I made it as a maternity skirt 2 or 3 babies ago.
It is shorter in the front, gathered in the back and I added two great big pockets.
I always tell Ryan that women's clothes have far too little pocket action.
This one I was particularly pleased with, making up the pattern and having to
applique around each little girl (and one boy!)
I got the feathers and flowers for this in New York, without knowing what I was going to do with them. Could I sell these?
I picked up this upholstery fabric at MOOD,
and used some left-over corduroy as the piping for detail.
You likee? You can tell I'm a pocket fan, with another couple inside for your pen and well, whatever it is you like to put in your pockets! There's also a sturdy piece of cardboard inside to give it a nice flat bottom. Because purses like flat bottoms.
So...the purse is for me? I want the "Paperdoll skirt" too and the headband, oh and all the rest, please!
ReplyDelete(Who doesn't like flat bottoms?)
(my husband doesn't like flat bottoms, actually. this is why i use lunges instead of cardboard.)
ReplyDeleteand i like your projects, katy. i particularly like the cord skirt. love that flare - love the shape. maybe you should open an etsy shop and see how many other people like your projects. let me know when you are accepting custom order requests.
Oh K-k-k-katy! These are all amazing! I love the headband! Maybe when Jordan gets that sisters' retreat together we can have a sewing night!
ReplyDeleteSorry Jordan, I believe the purse is for her little sis.
I love those skirts they all look adorable. I wish I knew more about sewing so I could make patterns as cute as those.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite (and I love them all) is the headband. Yes, you could definitely sell them, I would be one of your first customers.
ReplyDeleteI was organizing all my boxes of fabrics a week or two ago and I thought of you and your fantastic collection. Don't you just love fabric? I am so sad on of the best stores in Salt Lake is closing (fashion affair)!
i love divine's skirt. the paper dolls are so graphic.
ReplyDeleteThis is Brendon's little sister and I absolutely love all of your stuff! You are so talented! The purse is so cute and I would love to own it!
ReplyDeleteYou are seriously the most talented person I know STILL! You always amaze me. I too would love a paper doll skirt. You could sell any and all of these. I still heart your glass stars. The one you made for Ava is hanging proudly in her room. I need to order one for Lola now that I think of it. Do you still make?
ReplyDeleteKaty,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how Ryan scored such a talented, amazing, awesome wife...(probably because he is pretty amazing and awesome too!)...but you ROCK! Seriously...you do it all. Finishing projects feels great too, eh? Love the paper doll skirt...love all of it! Hope you guys are doing well. Congrats on the newest addition to the family. I still need an email from you two telling me your new addy. Okay? Love, Melanie
Nice work, Katy! One of my goals when I got home from my mission was to learn how to sew without a pattern (that is how they do it in Paraguay), but I haven't gotten even close to that yet. One day.
ReplyDeleteWhen in the world do you find the time? Incredible stuff! M
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS! Need a close-up of the paper doll ditty. PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteI love your new banner. Who designed it? I need tips from you. See you in the morning!
ReplyDeleteJordan, I won it in a giveaway a couple months ago from knuckleheaders.
ReplyDeleteYes! See you TOMORROW!
Woweeee!!! Apparently the artistic gene was transferred to you in abundance! I loved every single one of your creations, but I absolutely ADORED your high heeled stocking for Clover. So creative!!!
ReplyDeleteHowdy Katie! Yes, you could sell these beautiful things...to the Metropolitan Museum of ART!
ReplyDeleteI say you could for sure sell those headbands, that thing is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI definitely want a chance at toting that bag around. I'd be more than proud. Weren't we in the same sewing class one year in HS? Mrs. Price? I did not learn anything, I'm terrible. I need to come and take lessons from you!
Katie--Your projects are awesome!! I love the paper doll skirt--wishing I had a girl--and the stocking for Clover is just so cute. You could definitely sell your projects...let me know when you open a store!
ReplyDeleteLove it all! Tell Jordan to hop on over here when she's done in Jax! :) Ok, so we're now about 3 hours away, but tell her to still hop on over, with her goochkins, and all your little dills too! I'm hoping I get picked. You are a rare talent, btw!
ReplyDeleteYou could sell all of those! I LOVE the cord skirt and the applique skirt- all of it really! really when do you do all this? Really- that isnt an empty question! AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteOk, I've got to give it a try! That purse is too adorable! I have been secretly "stalking" your blog via Jennifer C. for quite some time now! I think it's gorgeous, as well as the other items!
ReplyDeleteKaty, I don't know you but I know your cousin Carol!!! Does that count? Carol was telling me all about your fabulous talent and she was RIGHT! Goodness gracious you are amazing....love it. Love the skirt with the corduroy piping, love the bag, love the stocking, love the other skirt with pockets, love the hairpiece, love the little girl (and one boy!) skirt...did I miss anything :-)
ReplyDeleteWow! How do you manage to create such beautiful things with 5 little ones running around. I am impressed as always!
ReplyDeleteKaty, you are amazing and your touch turns everything into masterpieces. Your creations are gorgeous. Divine's skirt was a huge hit at church and will be whenever she wears it. I love the pink & green purse. Pink is my favorite color....still. Guess I haven't grown up yet. ~ Susie

ReplyDeleteMy lovely friend Megan (a.k.a. Knuckleheaders) did a wonderful job. I LOVE IT! Oh and to respond to your question of selling those headbands the answer is a loud and ringing YES!!!!!! May I be the first customer?
ReplyDeleteLove it all - I have just started sewing again, I was using my grandmothers antique machine and got so tired of changing the tension every few inches I gave up. Lucky for me target had a really simple machine on sell that Matt picked up for christmas. I started sewing without a pattern and have completely lost all my skills. I am going to have to practice night and day if I ever want to catch up to you.
ReplyDeleteSuch amazing talent!
Jen-I did these over the last few months, not days, just a little bit at a time.
ReplyDeleteAshley-You may! Let me gather more supplies and I'll get a few color/style choices ready.
Cathy-I highly doubt you lost all your skills--you and I were unstoppable in High School. I agree, though, sewing with a temperamental machine is frustrating.
Ah-h-h-h Katy, how I love you. I know I'm not a contender for the purse.
ReplyDeleteI just want you to know how much I love, respect and appreciate you as my daughter, by marriage, friend, confidant, mother, of my 5 precious ones, and wife to my great son.
Ah-h-h-h Katy!
I didn't win, but I did twist your arm into letting me be head banded.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love all the things you have made. The purse and all the skirts are my favorite. I sew but you have inspired me to do more. What fun you must be having! Thanks for sharing your ideas. You are one of the most creative people I know. I have no idea when you find the time to do it all. I just have one and I hardly ever get anything done. Your amazing! ( Did you just make up the pattern for the purse? I love it! A girl can never have too many purses.)
