First Day of First Grade for our First Child
Firsts abound today! Divine and I were making her lunch last night when she suddenly turned to me and asked, "Are you going to put a love note in my lunch?" I didn't think she cared. I never liked the first day of school. So much unknown. In fact, my first day of first grade was met with my bottle of glue leaking all over my new bag and new school supplies. (I'm still recovering.) But, I think Divine is not quite so sensitive and will be strong. The first child is a pioneer of sorts. Divine has been a good one. She had a father's blessing last night, and She is going to have a wonderful year.
And, who else do you know in first grade gets to have rhyming teachers (Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Gay)?

Oh Katy! She is getting so old! She looks so cute. How did she know about love notes in lunches?
ReplyDeleteKaty--just a few tears on this end. How I love that girl! She is a treasure.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Ray and Mrs. Gay are in for a treat for sure!! Love the love note and the lime green socks!
ReplyDeleteAnn, she had full day Kindergarten, so she took lunches last year.
ReplyDeleteShe does look old, doesn't she? Well, she's still only 5!
Hey, I think we have the same counter top.
ReplyDeleteWhen does she turn 6? They were pretty strict here about kids turning 5 by Kindergarten, but I bet the age requirements were different in Texas. My daughter turned 6 in July and is a 1st grader too! She has some close friends that are still 5 but turn 6 in Sept. that are just starting kindergarten because of the Sept.1st cutoff! So close!!!
ReplyDeleteI too love the green socks and the love note. She looks darling!
So glad to hear from you Ingrid! I'm sure you've heard the Frey's are moving to Idaho--we are SO sad.
ReplyDeleteDivine turns 6 tomorrow. She met the deadline in TX, I'm not sure how they do it here. She'll always be the youngest in her class, but I like to think she'll handle it just fine.
with confidence like hers, notes like that one and socks like those, the first grade will be a piece of cake for miss divine.
ReplyDeleteKaty,
ReplyDeleteI did not realize that our daughters were almost the same age! Julianna was born in July and yours August! The cutoff for school is Sept. 1st, so your daughter just barely made it and yes, will likely always be the youngest. Just looking at her picture, her name suits her quite well.
We were hoping to go to JAX this past weekend and see the Freys (and perhaps meet you and your family), but we had a previous engagment that we attended. Idaho will be VERY blessed to have the Frey family- a very special family.
