Happy Birthday, Dad! In all the packing and good-byes this morning, I don't think anyone wished you a happy birthday! What a better present than to have your youngest daughter return honorably from serving a mission for the Lord. I feel I can write better than I can speak eloquent words, so, consider this my "nice things around the table" comment.
You are a man of great quantity qualities: artistic, green thumbed, intelligent, wise, altruistic, and the list goes on. But, I admire you most because of your righteousness and desire to put the Lord first, which, in turn, allows everyone else to fall to their natural place. You are a supportive spouse, a doting dad, a great grompa, and a beneficent brother. (And despite what Ben says, you don't have a mean bone in your body--except when it comes to squirrels ;) ) I am grateful for your example of living a life full of integrity. I believe one knows when they are on the straight and narrow when those around them desire to become better individuals. Thank you for instilling that desire in me. I love you!

A perfect "nice thing around the table".
ReplyDeleteDearest Katy,
ReplyDeleteWhat nice things around the table you shared! Nicer still because you know me up close and personal.
So fun to stop and play coming and going to and from Ecuador.
We came home to blooming forsythia, daffodils, hyacinths, and popcorn popping on the apricot trees. Spring in Utah is the best!
Squeeze all the little pickles for me. Miss them already.
Love,
Dad
Your dad sounds like way too much fun! You and Jordan are such special people and it seems many of your Dad's characteristics have rubbed off on the two of you!
